Vande Bharat Express is also known as Train 18, is an
Indian semi-high speed Intercity electric multiple units. The train no. of
Vande Bharat Express is 22435. It was designed and built by Integral Coach
Factory (ICF). It runs from Delhi to Varanasi. The train starts from
Delhi-Varanasi or Varanasi-Delhi, in between there are 2halts and 122
intermediate stations. The distance from Delhi-Varanasi or Varanasi-Delhi is
759 km. Chennai under the Indian government’s Make in India initiative over
span of 18 months. The unit cost of the first rake was given as Rs.100CR (US$
14million), though the unit cost is expected to go down with subsequent
production. At the original price, it is estimated to be 40% less costly then a
similar train imported from Europe. The train was launched on 15th
Feb 2019, by which date a second unit will have been produced and readied for
service. The service was named ‘Vande Bharat Express’ on 27th
January 2019.
Shatabdi Express was replaced by Vande
Bharat Express. Its capacity to hold the passengers is 1,128. Its operator is
Indian Railways. The length of Vande Bharat is 1,235 ft and width is 10.6 ft
(3.24 meters). Its doors are automatic and the maximum speed is 180km/hr
(100mph), highest speed reached. 160km/hr (99mph), highest operating speed.
200km/hr (120mph), theoretical max speed .Weight is about 39.5 Tons-trailer coaches.
